West Virginia RHTP Funding Announcement:
The West Virginia Department of Public Health announced a $1.945M award to Cartwheel through
West Virginia’s Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP) to connect students and families to high quality mental health care, eliminate months-long waitlists, and improve health and success outcomes.

New School Telehealth Initiative to Support Mental Health for K-12 Youth and Families in West Virginia

No Waitlists for Care

Every rural West Virginia county is a federally designated Health Professional Shortage Area, and families often wait 6 to 12 months for an appointment. This partnership eliminates that wait.

Parental Consent Required

The program is fully voluntary. Every referral requires parental consent, and families are involved and receive updates throughout their child’s care.

Open to Every Rural District

The program is being offered to all school districts in West Virginia’s rural counties.
